Chartreuse

Had a dream a while ago about a teenage girl who's bullied at school because of her weight. One day, she pays a visit to a relative who gives her a pep-talk. When she returns home, she slowly starts exhibiting powers such as levitation, magnetism, telekinesis, control over electricity, enhanced strength and the ability to sense danger. She began experimenting with her new powers and realized that she could use her powers to help people. She developed a superhero persona and one day at school, she saved a classmate's life as an accident was about to occur on campus. Though her bullies became jealous of her and still expressed hatred toward her, she became a hero to her city and that alone gave her the confidence she needed to love herself despite what others say about her. 

I also contemplated a backstory for how she got her powers and where her story goes:
After getting viciously bullied at school, she called her uncle who she often confides in. He invited her over and sat her down for a talk. He told her to ignore everyone at her school who calls her fat and ugly and tells her that she's beautiful and that the girls at her school are just jealous of her. He then tells her a story about how when he was going to MIT, his mostly white classmates and professors bullied him for being black and when he stood up for himself, he was expelled from the school. He told her that because he didn't let what they said to him bring him down, he became a successful engineer. 
Chartreuse told her mother about what her uncle told her and her mother told her that he relayed the same story to her when the incident supposedly happened but he changed the details of the story. Chartreuse found this suspicious and decided to ask her uncle about it but he blamed it on poor memory.

The following week, Chartreuse started experiencing strange occurrences and developed special abilities. She could levitate, lift objects with her mind, control electricity and many others. She started testing out her abilities in secret until one day, a girl was talking about her behind her back during class and she used her powers to threaten her, using her telekinesis to knock over her desk and push her up against a wall. She initially enjoyed the fear that she instilled in her and everyone else she was watching but she remembered the story that her uncle told her and she decided that what she was doing was wrong. She decided to stop using her powers until this same classmate was walking underneath shoddy scaffolding at a construction site by their school. The scaffolding almost collapsed on top of her but Chartreuse saved her, using her telekinesis to keep the scaffoling up and move it aside. The girl asked her how she was able to do what she did and Chartreuse told her that she didn't know. The girl apologized to her for making fun of her and told her that she'd never bother her again. Everyone who saw what happened was in awe, shock and some of them applauded, calling her a superhero.

Another day at school, a colleague of her father's visited her school during her science class and recognized her from a picture her uncle kept of her in his office. Chartreuse spoke to him and asked him if he knew anything about the story her uncle told him and he told her that it was true but he was never expelled, he chose to leave on his own. He said her uncle was one of the most brilliant students at the school but their professors told him repeatedly that his project either might not work or become very dangerous. They feared that he was going to use his project against them and other whites at the school. She asked him what he was working on while he was there and he said that he was working on nanites that can give the people who ingest them special abilities and they fed on fat cells to stay active. He was going to use it to help treat overweight people with hormone disorders by eating away their fat while enabling them to take care of themselves. Her uncle was overweight while at MIT and the nanites worked on him but after he lost the weight, they stopped working and he wanted those abilities back. None of his bigger friends wanted to be his guinea pigs because of what was said about him. Because of all the frustrations, set backs and discouragements from everyone around him, he left on his own. 

Chartreuse returned to her uncle to ask him why he lied about being expelled. He admitted that he twisted that detail to fuel her own ambitions and encourage her to use the powers she would gain after he slipped the nanites into a glass of water that he gave her to stand up against her bullies. He's also been working on nanites that will work on his body type and he's finally perfected them. He asked her to join him on his mission to prove the professors at MIT wrong. She told him that he didn't need her for that and he explained to her that people like them will never get to show the world what they have to offer because of their appearances. When Chartreuse declined, he took back every positive thing he ever said to her and told her that it was no wonder why people bullied her. She was weak and stupid and she'd always let people push her around. Heartbroken, Chartreuse returned home to tell her mother. A few days later, she sensed that something terrible was going on. She flew to the source of the danger and found her uncle at his old professor's house threatening his life. Chartreuse and her uncle then engaged in a super-powered battle until her uncle was defeated.
